Translation Certification and Notarization in NYC
Courts, immigration offices and schools abroad often want a translation that comes with a signed, notarized statement from the translator. We notarize the translator’s signature.
From $25 · NY commissioned notary · 24/7
A notary does not translate documents and cannot certify that a translation is accurate. In New York the translator signs a statement that the translation is complete and accurate, and the notary notarizes the translator’s signature. That notarized statement is attached to the translation. If the translation is going abroad, it may also need an apostille.
When you need this
- Immigration and USCIS filings that need a certified translation
- Court filings, school records and professional credentials
- Birth, marriage and divorce certificates translated for use abroad
- Translations that must also be apostilled
How it works with NotarEaseNYC
- Get the translation. From your translator, with their certification statement typed and ready, unsigned.
- Have valid photo ID. The translator signs, so the translator needs a current driver license, state ID or passport.
- Notarize by video. The translator signs in front of the notary.
- Attach and submit. The notarized statement stays with the translation. Add an apostille if the receiving country requires it.
Frequently asked questions
Can a notary certify a translation?
No. The translator certifies the translation is accurate. The notary notarizes the translator’s signature on that statement.
Can the notarization be done online?
Yes. The translator can sign in front of a New York notary by live video. Confirm that the receiving office accepts remote online notarization.
Do I need an apostille on a translation?
Only if the translation is going to a country that requires it. The apostille is added after the notarization.
Do you translate documents?
No. We notarize the translator’s certification.

NotarEaseNYC is a notary service, not a law firm. We cannot draft your document, give legal advice, explain its legal effect, or choose the right form or certificate for you. Your document must be complete before the session, and everything must be typed, not handwritten. Whether a receiving agency or company accepts a remote online notarization is up to them, so confirm before you book if you are unsure.
