Short answer: in New York, the notarization itself costs just $2 per signature, that is the state maximum. What changes the price is how you want it done: mobile, online, or in person. Here is exactly what each option costs in NYC, with no surprises.
NotarEaseNYC pricing at a glance
| Service | Starting price |
|---|---|
| Standard notarization (per act) | $2 |
| Mobile notary (travel fee) | $55 |
| Remote online notary | $25 |
| Apostille (plus government fees) | $199 |
| I-9 verification (per employee) | $50 |
| Real estate document recording | $350 |
1 The base notary fee: $2 per signature
New York State law caps the fee a notary can charge for the notarial act itself at $2 per signature. That part is the same everywhere in the state. The differences in price come entirely from how the notary reaches you and what else is involved.
2 Mobile notary cost in NYC
A mobile notary travels to your home, office, or hospital. That convenience comes with a flat travel fee on top of the $2 per signature. For example, a single notarization on a weekday is a $55 travel fee plus $2, so $57 total.
A $15 surcharge applies for locations outside our home borough of Queens, and a small $5 surcharge for weekends and holidays. See the full breakdown on our mobile notary page.
3 Remote online notary cost
The cheapest and fastest option is remote online notarization, starting at just $25. You get notarized by secure video from anywhere in New York, no travel and no printing. Learn how it works on our online notary page.
4 Apostille cost
An apostille is different: it is a done-for-you service that includes notarization, state filing, and secure return shipping, starting at $199 plus government fees. Government charges are set by the state and paid separately. Details on our apostille page.
5 I-9 verification cost
For employers verifying remote hires, I-9 verification starts at $50 per employee, with volume pricing available. See our I-9 verification page.
6 Real estate document recording
Recording a deed or other real estate document through ACRIS starts at $350 plus government recording fees. More on our recording page.
7 What affects the price
A few things move the total:
Per signature, or more precisely per notarial act. A document with two signers needs two acts.
Why does mobile cost more?
The travel fee covers the notary time, mileage, and reserved appointment slot to come to you.
Can I get it done the same day?
Usually yes. Mobile and online appointments are often available the same day, including evenings and weekends.
Are government fees included?
No. For apostille and recording, government fees and taxes are set by the state and paid separately from our service fee.
